New Year's Eve 2011

Kevin and I were invited to a party on New Year's Eve. It was our first without kids, of course since having kids. We took the kids over to my dad's house for the night. It was great not to have to worry about what time we needed to be home. We had a lot of good food, and a lot of good laughs. And wouldn't you know this is the only picture I got. AWESOME!

The week after Christmas, Kevin was scheduled to work, so the kids and I took a trip down to see Kevin's parents. While we were visiting in Arizona we took a trip to the Zoo. We have had many visits to the Phoenix Zoo, but the kids love it every time.

Christmas Day

We had a small and quiet Christmas with just our little family this year. We spent the whole day in our pajamas. Which was just heaven for me. I didn't have one thing to worry about or anywhere to rush off to. Our kids were blessed with many wonderful presents because of others generosity. Ryan decided later on in the evening that his pajamas would make a great gift sack just like Santa. He filled his sleeper with toys and zipped it up and began hauling it around the house. It was very cute.

Christmas Eve Part 2: Dinner

We are very lucky to have my Dad living just 10 minutes away. We probably won't ever live this close to family at any other time during our Military career. He has been such a lifesaver for me. The kids absolutely adore Granddad. He had us over for dinner on Christmas Eve. It was nice to be in his home with many of the familiar Christmas decorations from my childhood. My dad loves to put on fancy dinners. He always does a wonderful job with the beautiful table and the yummy treats. His home is also on the 29th floor of a building on the Las Vegas strip and the view is breathtaking at night. We had fun and the kids didn't want to leave except for the promise that Santa would not be coming for them at Granddad's house! Once again I was a terrible photographer, so there are only two pictures.

Christmas Eve part 1: Sledding!

On Christmas Eve we were invited by some friends from church to go sledding. It was quite possibly the most perfect activity for Christmas Eve. Especially since we live in Las Vegas. Who knew we would have such wonderful snow so near by. The weather had just cleared up after about 5 days straight of rain so there was tons of snow up on Mt. Charelston. It was literally up to my thigh. I know I am short but that is still alot of snow. We had so much fun that apparently I didn't get very good pictures. Ryan was such a dare devil and went down with anyone that would take him. That resulted in Kevin having to walk down the hill each time to carry him back up on his shoulders. There couldn't have been a better way to spend the morning.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

We are lucky to live on base so that we are able to take advantage of all the many activities that are put on for the residents. We have an awesome woman that works at our community center who puts on multiple activities each week. One of the activities put on for the residents during the Christmas season was called Winter Wonderland. Kevin took the kids because I had to be at a church meeting. The kids were able to have their picture taken with Santa, make an ornament and have a snack. They also came home with a few prizes and presents.
