He's there
Kevin was supposed to have arrived in San Antonio last night. He called me at about 6:45 and said that he was back at the Radisson in SLC. Their flight had been cancelled because of mechanical problems. The travel liason for the Air Force had given them a phone number to call in case anything happened. So Kevin called and then was assigned the task of trying to reschedule flights for 13 people including himself. After a few hours he had the flights rescheduled, but they weren't able to leave until the next day, today. They had cabs scheduled to pick them up in front of the hotel at 3AM. He had already been up Monday morning at 4:30 AM. Guess he better get used to that. He called me today at about 12:45 and said he had made it to San Antonio, and he was nervous. He said that he was in the USO office at the airport and the TI (training instructors) wouldn't be there until 5PM. The people in the office told him to relax because come 5, there would be no more relaxing. So he is off to start his adventure. I told him not to worry because hopefully they wouldn't know his age right off, so they wouldn't be able to give him grief for that yet! Pray for him!

It begins...
Well we have been really busy these last two months getting ready for Kevin to leave. We moved out of our house so that we could rent it out. The kids and I are staying with my sister Madeleine. Kevin left today for basic training. I don't have the cable to download my pictures onto the laptop, so this post will be boring. Any way that is what we are up to. Wish me luck for the next two months while Kevin is unreachable!

Carving Pumpkins
Last Saturday we carved our pumpkins. Spanish Fork also had a Trick-or-Treat on Main Street. Local businesses passed out candy along Main Street. Heidi was excited that she got to go trick-or-treating before Halloween and get dressed up twice! Ryan was just happy to ride in the stroller.

Air Force
For those that do not know I (Kevin) have enlisted in the Air Force for active duty. I will be shipping out to Lackland Air Force Base on Dec. 30th. My Air Force Specialty Career is 2A3x2 or Avionics Systems. I will be working on all of the electrical components of the aircraft such as radar, flight control, navigation, communication, satellite components, and other areas. If you go to about.com and search 2A3x2 you can read more about what I will be doing. I will be in Basic Military Training for 8 1/2 weeks and then will go to tech training for about 6 months before recieving my first assignment.

Pajamas?

So the other night I told Heidi to put her pajamas on. My mom and I were playing cards, so I really wasn't paying attention to how long it was taking Heidi to find pajamas. Finally I hear Heidi in the other room say "Mom come look at Ryan he looks funny!" I went to find out what they were doing just as Ryan comes crawling into the living room wearing Heidi's capri's and shirt. I started laughing! Ryan thought that my laughing was hysterical too. I don't know how Heidi got him dressed without him getting mad and crying. I don't think I can even get him dressed that fast. We all had a very good laugh, and as you can see Heidi was very proud of herself!
Happy Birthday Ryan!

Well it is hard to believe it but Ryan turned 1 this week. We had a little family party for him last Saturday. My sister Madeleine came with her family, and my mom is also here visiting. He wasn't sure about his cake at first, but it didn't take him long to dig in. Earlier in the day we also went to see BYU play Wyoming. It was a slaughter. It is always fun to go and watch your team win!

Labor Day Weekend

For Labor Day we went down to Arizona to visit Kevin's parents. While there we went to see the Dodgers play the Diamondbacks. We had a lot of fun and the kids were really good. Kevin and Scott wanted to go two hours early to see if they could catch a ball during batting practice. Luckily they have lots to keep kids entertained in the stadium. There is a Peter Piper area (similar to Chuck-E-Cheese). They actually have an entire playground, and a few other things for the kids to climb around on. We had a lot of fun and were definitely wearing the right colors because the Dodgers won!

Well the new excitement in our life is that Kevin has joined the Air Force. Soon blogging will be my best friend. We don't know much yet. We don't even know when Kevin will be leaving for basic training. It sounds like he will go sometime late December or January. He will be in basic training for 8 1/2 weeks, and then he will do his "tech training". Hopefully that will last more than 20 weeks and if it does we will move to the base where he is training. So the next few weeks and months will be filled with getting our house ready to sell (and hopefully selling it!) and preparing for where ever we will end up. And once again, I am along for the ride!
